SAN DIEGO, CA — December 11, 2025 — San Diego City College and SD Knights Records are pleased to present the next installment of the KSDS Jazz Studio Sessions at City College, featuring vibraphonist Ian Harland. The intimate live performance will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the state-of-the-art Recording Studio at City College (14th Street & C Street, East Village, San Diego). Ian will be joined by John Opferkuch (piano), Justin Joyce (drums), and Julian Esparza (bass). Tickets are priced at $30, available via Eventbrite. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to support KSDS Jazz radio.
Ian Harland (b. 1991) is a San Diego–based multi-instrumentalist known for his versatility and melodic sensibility. Originally a drummer, he later expanded his musical range by teaching himself guitar, bass, vibraphone, and piano. He earned his Master’s in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University in 2014 and has spent the past decade performing and recording across a wide spectrum of genres. Harland has shared the stage with Chris Montez, Charles McPherson, Gilbert Castellanos, and Tony Coleman, and performs regularly with Zak Najor, Madris Peck, The Tikiyaki Orchestra, and his own Ian Harland Quintet. His recording credits include projects with The Good Vibes Band, Mackenzie Leighton, Justin Joyce, La Boogie Buena, and David Yuter. His debut album as a leader, Behind Bars—a jazz vibraphone project—will be released in January 2026.
A limited number of all-access tickets are available to experience this intimate performance from inside the San Diego City College Recording Studio. These tickets give fans a rare look at a professional live-stream concert production while supporting local public radio. Limited seating will be available for the live room or the control room—and witness the behind-the-scenes workings of a professional broadcast.
